Wombling Merry Christmas...

As we wait to see if the Wombles have achieved a Christmas Number 1, here's a picture from the Matthews household... Larger Wombles (Orinoco, Bulgaria, Bungo) at the foot of the tree, with smaller Wombles (Shansi, Alderney and others) sitting on various branches. There's even a guest appearance from Bagpuss.

I wish you a very Merry Wombling Christmas and a Happy 2012...

Womble tart?

Well, not really. Confounding my expectations, the Wombles were part of the Identity Parade round on last night's Never Mind the Buzzcocks. They tweaked the normal format; instead of identifying a band member, the challenge was to identify which Womble was not in the band. If you haven't seen it, BBC iPlayer has the clip.  It was - shall we say? - a little out of place with the normal tone of the programme, which was even more outrageous than normal due to the presence of guest host John Barrowman. So why not view the clip and see if you can spot the non-band member? And as for the reference to Womble tart - that's explained in the clip, too.

Beware Barrowman's Buzzcocks

The campaign for Christmas number 1 comes to BBC2 this evening, with Never Mind the Buzzcocks hosted by John Barrowman. A preview clip showed team captain Noel Fielding describing our furry friends as 'the worst five-a-side team ever'. Surely they can't be the subjects of the Identity Parade round? And how will Madame Cholet survive the attentions of the professionally amorous Mr Barrowman? Tune in at 10pm this evening to find out...

Going for Number 1...

It was great to see all the media coverage as everyone's favourite furry environmentalist pop-stars launched their bid for a seasonal No. 1 at HMV in London on Sunday.

Sadly I couldn't be there, but some people were - here are some pictures from the event (courtesy of Tony Clark).

Keep on Wombling...
