I'm doing some research for the trip to Japan (Bungo) and came across this implausible duo at HyperJapan recently. Like others at the event, they were big fans of anime, the Japanese style of animated film.
I had a chance to see an anime film for the first time last night, at a special screening of The Girl who leapt through time at the Japanese Embassy in Piccadilly, London. The plot, for all its intricacies, has a basic simplicity - what if you could time travel and put right your mistakes? There are some nice touches - the central character seems as angry about her sister eating her pudding as anything else - but I can't yet see what all the fuss is about. Maybe, when I get to Japan, it will become clearer...?
